Work With Me Behind our computers we are anybody we want to be. We are super-people. We are opinionated. We are invincible. With great power comes great responsibility.
Somebody mentioned this today and I darn near choked on my coffee. Being a technology professional I sometimes take for granted that the skills and expertise needed for a social media campaign are understood. Clearly, they aren’t.
In a recent discussion with a friend of mine, the topic of “How to Design a Web Site” came up. My friend is a writer. He’s not a web professional or an artist, so I was suprised when he said: “most people miss the boat in having their web site designed because they’re thinking about themselves when they do it.”
Once upon a time in years long past, it was okay to do certain things online. Heck, who didn’t have a free template? The web is no longer new, and visitor expectations are high for business owners and entrepreneurs who expect to gain customers online.
The reality of Social Media is that word gets around – whether it’s good, bad or ugly. Once something negative is posted about you or your company in cyberspace, you will need to react quickly to minimize the impact. Commentary left unaddressed in cyberspace leads the public to believe that: you don’t care what people are saying online; you don’t have the capacity to interact online; and/or you have no interest in responding.
